Echoes from the Basin, 1993
Site-specific installation in the stairwell of the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Ontario, with a network of seven publicly sited copper satellite dishes that channel audio voice-over of five regional stories written by local writers. Three video monitors, positioned at each of the three landings, present surveillance style video of the satellite dishes. The stories are wallpapered onto the stairwell walls, and steel, the chief product of Hamilton, covers the stairwell landings with aerial views of Hamilton mounted on steel sheets at the top.
Materials: 7 (10') copper satellite dishes, audio, steel floored stairwell, text, video monitors, moss, petri dishes, water, aerial blueprints on steel sheets.
